Terms of use
Last updated: 28 July 2026
1. Purpose
These terms of use (the “Terms”) set out how the website secu-cycle.fr and the mobile app Sécu'Cycle (together, “the Service”) may be accessed and used. By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms in full.
2. Description of the Service
Sécu'Cycle is a free service that helps cyclists find routes suited to safety, navigate in real time and report hazards. The Service is built on open data (OpenStreetMap, IGN, Base Adresse Nationale, official accident registers, live traffic from city open data portals, Copernicus air quality), listed in full on the data sources page, and offers routes for guidance only.
3. Access and accounts
Some features require an account. You undertake to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials confidential. The Service is restricted to people aged 15 or over; younger users must obtain their legal guardians' consent.
4. User obligations
- Use the Service lawfully and for its intended purpose;
- Do not attempt to disrupt the operation, security or integrity of the Service;
- Submit reports in good faith and truthfully;
- Respect the rights of third parties and applicable regulations.
5. Safety warning
The guidance offered by Sécu'Cycle is a navigation aid and is no substitute for your own vigilance. You remain solely responsible for how you ride.
You must at all times obey the Highway Code, adapt your behaviour to actual traffic conditions and not handle your phone while riding. The routes and information provided are indicative, and their accuracy or safety is not guaranteed.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, its name, logo and interface are protected. Mapping and mobility data remains the property of its respective providers and is used in accordance with their licences (notably the OpenStreetMap ODbL licence). No licence or assignment is granted beyond personal use of the Service.
7. Liability
The Service is provided “as is”, as part of a student project, without any warranty of availability, accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, the publishers cannot be held liable for damage resulting from the use of, or inability to use, the Service, nor for any decision taken on the basis of a suggested route.
8. Personal data
The processing of your personal data is described in our privacy policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.
9. Changes and termination
The publishers may change the Service and these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time, from the app as well as from the website. In the event of a breach of these Terms, access to the Service may be suspended or terminated.
10. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, we will first seek an amicable solution — contact us at contact@secu-cycle.fr. Failing that, consumers may use a consumer ombudsman free of charge, or the European online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. The French courts have jurisdiction.
11. Contact
For any question about these Terms: contact@secu-cycle.fr. Details of the publisher and hosting provider are in the legal notice.
