Cycling maps by city
Sécu’Cycle plans safer bike routes from around a dozen open data sets. These thematic maps open up each of those layers on its own, city by city: where to park a bike, where to find water, which streets are lit, where cyclists are hurt.
We only publish a map once the open data for an area is complete enough to be useful — a sparse survey would give a false picture. Coverage grows as new areas are added to the route planner: you can suggest a city through our contact page.
Bordeaux and its metropolitan area
Sécu’Cycle covers Bordeaux Métropole and the south of the urban area, from Blanquefort to La Brède by way of Mérignac, Pessac, Talence and Bègles. Every map below draws on the same data as the route planner.
Rennes and its metropolitan area
Sécu’Cycle covers Rennes Métropole, from Betton to Bruz and from Mordelles to Cesson-Sévigné. Rennes is one of the densest urban areas in France, and one of the best served by open data. Route planning is not available there yet.
Nantes and its metropolitan area
Sécu’Cycle covers Nantes Métropole, from both banks of the Loire to the Erdre and the Sèvre. It is the best served by open data of any area on the service: Nantes Métropole publishes a full inventory of its street lighting, which allows a map of rare precision. Route planning is not available there yet.
Paris and Greater Paris
Sécu’Cycle covers the Métropole du Grand Paris, from central Paris to the inner suburbs, from Saint-Denis to Montrouge and from Boulogne to Montreuil. The maps below draw on open data, resynchronised automatically. Route planning is not available there yet.
Lyon and its metropolitan area
Sécu’Cycle covers the Métropole de Lyon, from the Presqu’île to Villeurbanne and from Vaulx-en-Velin to Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon. An urban area where the terrain matters as much as the infrastructure: the maps below draw on open data, resynchronised automatically. Route planning is not available there yet.
Lille and its metropolitan area
Sécu’Cycle covers the Métropole Européenne de Lille, from Lille to Roubaix and from Tourcoing to Villeneuve-d’Ascq. A flat, polycentric area where cobbles are part of daily life: the maps below draw on open data, resynchronised automatically. Route planning is not available there yet.
Strasbourg and the Eurométropole
Sécu’Cycle covers the Eurométropole de Strasbourg, from the Grande Île to the outer municipalities. It is the French city with the highest share of journeys made by bike: the maps below draw on open data, resynchronised automatically. Route planning is not available there yet.
Tournai, Mouscron and the Tournaisis
On the Belgian side, Sécu’Cycle covers the Tournaisis and the Mouscron area, up to the French border. Open data coverage there is patchier than in Bordeaux: we only publish the maps for which the survey is substantial enough.
Brussels and its 19 municipalities
Sécu’Cycle covers the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, from the Pentagon to Uccle and from Molenbeek to Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. A city of hills and cobbles, where a 30 km/h limit has applied city-wide since 2021: the maps below draw on open data, resynchronised automatically. Route planning is not available there yet.
A city missing?
We only publish a map once a territory’s open data is complete enough to be useful — a sparse survey would paint a false picture. Coverage grows as new territories join the route planner: you can suggest a city through our contact page.
