Bike repair in Lille

An inner tube to change, a buckled wheel, a tyre to reinflate: this map lists the workshops, bike shops and freely accessible pumping stations across the metropolitan area.

What the map shows

Three kinds of point sit side by side: bike shops and professional workshops, community self-repair workshops, and the pumping stations installed in public space.

Opening hours are not always recorded, and a community workshop often opens only a few afternoons a week: best to check before making the trip.

Wheels, the local weak point

Cobbles are hard on wheels. Spokes loosen, rims go out of true, and tyres at low pressure pinch-flat more readily than on smooth tarmac.

A puncture or a chain to lubricate remain within everyone's reach. A buckled wheel, on the other hand, calls for a truing stand and a practised hand.

Where the data comes from

The locations come from OpenStreetMap, resynchronised automatically. A recent workshop may be missing, and a closed shop may linger for a while.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I pump up my tyres for free in Lille?
The freely accessible pumping stations installed in public space appear on this map. Many bike shops also let you use a pump.
What is a self-repair workshop?
A place, usually run by a non-profit, that provides tools, second-hand parts and advice so that you can repair your own bike.
How often should a bike be serviced when ridden on cobbles?
More often than elsewhere. A monthly check of the spokes, wheel trueness and tyre pressure prevents most of the damage cobbles cause.
Can Sécu’Cycle take me to a workshop?
Not in Lille: route planning does not yet cover the metropolitan area. The map gives the addresses.
