What the map shows

Each point is a spot surveyed on the ground by OpenStreetMap contributors. Paris has converted car parking spaces into bike stands on a large scale, and the density in the central arrondissements reflects that.

Shelters and enclosed lockers appear separately. In Île-de-France these are mainly the Véligo lockers installed around railway and metro stations, designed for long-stay parking.

Parking in Paris without losing your bike

Paris accounts for most of the bike thefts reported in Île-de-France. The rule matters more than anywhere: lock the frame to a fixed point, never the wheel alone, and use a certified U-lock.

Choose busy, lit spots over dead ends and quiet underground car parks. For anything longer than a few hours, an enclosed locker is worth the detour.

Where the data comes from

The survey comes from OpenStreetMap and is resynchronised automatically. It is live but imperfect: a recently installed stand may be missing, and one that has been removed may linger.

Frequently asked questions

How many bike parking spots are there in Paris?
The counter at the top of the map gives the total recorded at the moment you consult it, together with the number of declared spaces.
Where can I find a secure bike locker in Île-de-France?
Enclosed shelters and lockers, mainly Véligo units installed near railway stations and transport hubs, appear on the map under the “Shelters and lockers” category.
Can I lock my bike to a post or a railing?
Nothing forbids it as long as the bike does not block the way, but a smooth post can be lifted off and a railing sawn through: these are makeshift points, not parking.
A parking spot is missing from the map — how do I report it?
The data comes from OpenStreetMap: you can add the location directly on openstreetmap.org and it will be picked up at the next sync.
Can Sécu’Cycle plan a route to these parking spots?
Not in Greater Paris yet. Route planning relies on a road network held in memory by our server, which does not cover Île-de-France.
