Drinking water in Nantes
More than 300 drinking water points are recorded across Nantes Métropole. This map places them so that refilling a bottle does not become a detour — on a bike, on a run, or simply in the heat.

What counts as a water point
The map keeps only water declared drinkable: street standpipes, taps in parks, playgrounds, cemeteries and sports facilities. Ornamental fountains are excluded.
Some points are accessible but conditionally — private grounds, reserved for users of a facility, open on request. They carry a distinct mark, to save you the detour.
The density stops at the metropolitan boundary
Nantes offers one of the tightest networks on the whole service: the Erdre banks, the île de Nantes, the large parks and the tree-lined squares of the centre hold most of it.
That abundance evaporates as soon as you leave. Setting off towards the Loire à Vélo, pick out your next two refills before leaving the metropolitan area: the density drops sharply.
The network shrinks in winter
Some fountains are drained in the colder months to prevent freezing, and others are seasonal by design. The map says so where the information exists, but the field is not always filled in.

- No. The survey stops at the 24 municipalities of Nantes Métropole, and the real density of water points drops markedly outside it in any case.
- Can I route my ride past these water points?
- Not in Nantes for the time being. Route planning covers only Bordeaux and the Tournai area; this map remains the right tool for planning ahead.
