The most common configurations

A vehicle turning right across the path of a cyclist going straight on remains the great classic. Dooring comes next, particularly along streets with parking on both sides.

Tram rails add a local risk: a wheel caught in a rail is a fall without a third party, and therefore absent from this map. Cross them at right angles.

Where the data comes from

The data comes from the BAAC file published each year by ONISR on data.gouv.fr. It is official but retrospective.

Frequently asked questions

Does this map record every cycling accident?

No. Only injury accidents that led to a police report enter the BAAC file. Falls on their own, including on tram rails, are absent.

Is the data up to date?

It follows the ONISR publication schedule: the latest year available covers a completed calendar year.

Is cycling in Strasbourg dangerous?

The number of accidents rises with the number of cyclists, and Strasbourg has many. Individual risk per kilometre falls as cycling becomes more widespread.

Do these accidents change the routes suggested in Strasbourg?
